The horizon broadened for hundreds of aspiring aviators this past Friday as the Uganda Aviation Academy (UAA) held its 2026 graduation ceremony.
The sky is nolonger a ceiling,it is your new office. ✈️
Standing before a phalanx of microphones, Hon. Capt. George Mike Mukula, the founder of the academy and a veteran aviator himself. In his speech, he shared a message of "Discipline and Integrity." Mukula, who established the academy in 2011 to bridge the professional skills gap in East Africa, emphasized that technical skill alone isn't enough to survive the high-stakes world of international flight.

"This graduation is not the end, but the beginning of your professional journey," Mukula told the press. He then conclided by sauing, "The aviation sector is fast-evolving. To stay ahead of the curve, you must maintain the highest ethical standards and meet strict international safety requirements."
Government Chief Whip Hon Denis Hamson Obua, who officiated as the chief guest, noted that these graduates are entering the workforce at a critical time. With the expansion of national carriers like Uganda Airlines and the increasing presence of global giants like Emirates and Qatar Airways in the region, the demand for "homegrown" talent has never been higher.
