As the nations paused to celebrate Labour Day, a striking image of journalists perched atop a dusty van served as a powerful "orientation" for those aspiring to join the field. While many envision the glamour of the newsroom, this photograph captures the raw, physical labour that remains the backbone of the Fourth Estate.

For students and aspiring reporters,come prepared, "the news does not come in comfort; it happens where the people are, and that is often where it is most difficult to stand." This image communicates three essential truths about the "work" of journalism today:The Physicality of the truth,The Technological Shift and Mobile Journalism (MoJo)

 To join the field now, you must be a "one-man army" ready to shoot, edit, and broadcast from the palm of your hand in the most challenging conditions. 
" Are you still ready to take the seat on top of the van to tell the stories that matter?"

The streets of Mengo are buzzing with anticipation as the Buganda Kingdom, in partnership with Airtel Uganda and various corporate sponsors, prepares for the 13th edition of the Kabaka Birthday Run. Scheduled for this Sunday, April 12, 2026. The event is more than just a celebration of the Kabaka's 71st birthday; it is a critical national mobilization effort aimed at ending HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. This year’s run is centered on the powerful theme: "Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child and the Fight to End HIV/AIDS by 2030."The campaign specifically calls on men to take a leading role in health awareness, testing, and prevention to protect the next generation.         Resourcefulness at its Finest🤌🤭😝 While most of us complain about the price of groceries, this student decided to go straight to the source. Many are wondering the technique?😂hmmmmm  A simple wooden stool placed on uneven garden soil???🤔.One wrong move and it’s either a fallen fruit or a fallen student.🫰 Why the Struggle is Real!😔 Anyone who has lived the "campus life" knows that a good avocado is like gold. Whether it's for a quick sandwich topper or the legendary "G-nut paste and avocado" combo, the effort spent harvesting is always worth the reward. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the best things in life require a little bit of climbing, a lot of reaching, and a very brave friend to watch from below.🙌
